Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & DG (ICAR) interacted with the trainees during the 110th FOCARS organized at the ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad today. Dr. Mohapatra stressed on the need for analyzing the state representation of ARS scientists over the past three years to promote the ARS from all the states. During his interaction, the Director General encouraged the young scientists for their dedicated service for the cause of small and marginal farmers of the country.
He also discussed on adopting the ways to get the ICAR Institutions or Deemed to be Universities and State Agricultural Universities figured in the top 200 Institutions and Universities of the world, for pioneering the areas of research in Indian agriculture to be pursued by the young scientists, improve the number of women Directors in the ICAR, improve the stature of agricultural research among the common public in comparison with the other fields, etc. The Director General also discussed about bringing second Green Revolution in the country, improving the collaborations with research and agri-industries, dealing with the hungry and poverty issues in the country, foreign exposure to FOCARS trainees and enhancing the role of ICAR in faculty building in agriculture and allied Universities of the State. Dr. Mohapatra urged for writing on transformation ideas to promote the ICAR at the global level. He also highlighted the need of fundamental research for resolve the emerging challenges in agriculture.
Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR-NAARM highlighted the new interventions included in the foundation course.
The 110th FOCARS consists of 135 trainees from 28 ARS disciplines representing 22 states of the country.
