Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra , Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR), New Delhi inaugurated the College of Food Technology, CAU (Imphal) at CAU Central Farm in Lamphelpat, Manipur today.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Mohapatra said that the new college campus is the result of the incorporation of prompt action on required procedures by the Vice-Chancellor on Prime Minister’s decision. He also underlined the importance of food technology that helps to prevent the crop losses and ensures a higher profit to the farmer and also provides with several values added products. He also stated that the latest constituent College of CAU, Imphal is a new feather in its cap.
Dr. R.S. Paroda, Chairperson, TAAS & Ex-Secretary, DARE and DG, ICAR, New Delhi also spoke on the importance of food processing and value addition in doubling the farmers’ income.
The new campus comprises of an administrative and academic building along with separate hostels for girls and boys each having a facility to accommodate 50 persons well-equipped with other basic and necessary facilities.
The inauguration was attended by various dignitaries of Government of India and State Government Departments.
The inauguration ceremony also organized a trip for the dignitaries around the newly inaugurated college campus and CAU Central Farm by the Vice-Chancellor and Directors of CAU, Imphal.
