Deputy Director General (Fisheries Science), ICAR visits Flood Driven - Moyna Fish Hub

Dr. Joykrushna Jena, Deputy Director General (Fisheries Science), ICAR visited the flood affected Moyna Fisheries Hub, Moyna, Purba Medinipur today. Around 8,000 ha of depressed lands including 6,000 ha of such lands in 7 Blocks of surroundings have been brought under the intensive fish culture providing the livelihood support to more than 5 Lakhs people directly or indirectly.

Dr. Jena was accompanied by Dr. B.K. Das, Director, ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore, Kolkata along with the Scientists of ICAR-CIFA & ICAR­-CIFRI.

During his visit, Dr. Jena was apprised about the constraints faced by the fishers of Moyna In his interaction with the fishers during the Aquafarmer's Interactive Meet, Dr. Jena stressed on strengthening the knowledge & skill upgradation of fishers through the ICAR Fisheries Research Institutes like ICAR-CIFRI, ICAR-CIFA & ICARCIFT.

In his address, Dr. Das urged the stakeholders to get trained with the modern knowledge of fish culture at ICAR-CIFRI.
