Department-Related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science and Technology, Environment, Forests and Climate Change visits ICAR-NBPGR, New Delhi

The Department-Related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science and Technology, Environment, Forests and Climate Change was on its visit to the National Gene Bank at ICAR-National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources, New Delhi here today.
Shri Jairam Ramesh, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) along with the Members of the Committee were accompanied by Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & DG (ICAR); Dr. Tilak Raj Sharma, Deputy Director General (Crop Science), ICAR; Dr. Devendra Kumar Yadava, ADG (Seeds), ICAR; Dr. A.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-IARI, New Delhi and other Senior Officials of ICAR, Rajya Sabha Secretariat, Department of Biotechnology and Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change.
The Chairman of the Committee interacted with the Scientists on the indigenous crops and climate-resilient crops of India and their importance.
The Committee Members were apprised about the Cryo Gene Bank Facility and long-term Storage of Seed Gene Bank of the National Gene Bank of ICAR-NBPGR, New Delhi.
Earlier, Dr. Ashok Kumar, Director, ICAR-NBPGR, New Delhi welcomed the dignitaries.
