The ICAR-Central Soil Salinity Research Institute, Karnal, Haryana organized the 7-day Awareness-cum-Training Programme on “Role of SHGs in Livelihood Promotion and Women Empowerment” among the marginalized communities covering Budhanpur Village, Karnal and Neoltha Village, Panipat from 12th to 18th October, 2021.
In his addresses, Dr. P.C. Sharma, Director, ICAR-CSSRI, Karnal highlighted the role and importance of Self-Help Groups in the current scenario of livelihood diversification, especially, for the marginalized women. He stated that the programme conducted in association with the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, Haryana could cover the various aspects of SHGs including the importance & procedure of SHGs creation and the course of activities (value-added dairy products, mushroom and vegetable production, etc.) that can be undertaken in future.
A total of 140 women participated in the programme.
