The Annual Zonal Workshop of Krishi Vigyan Kendras organized by the ICAR-Agricultural Application Research Institute, Ludhiana at the G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand concluded today. The workshop was organized from 3rd to 5th August, 2019.
The Chief Guest of the Valedictory Session, Dr. V.P. Chahal, ADG (Agricultural Extension), ICAR, New Delhi stated about the working of the KVKs as Frontline Extension System in the District within their limited resources. He urged the KVKs for developing 2-3 villages as model for doubling the farmers’ income through the enterprise-based interventions and also effectively executing the Jal Shakti Abhiyan.
Earlier, the Chief Guest of the Inaugural Session, Dr. Tej Partap, Vice-Chancellor; G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar urged the scientists for working hard for the farmers’ welfare at the grass root level. He also applauded KVKs’ role in transforming the agricultural scenario in the hills.
Dr. Rajbir Singh, Director, ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Ludhiana briefed the workshop’s recommendations. He stated about the works being done by the KVKs in the District in assessing and validating the technologies in micro-climate situations and up-scaling the suitable technologies.
Around 69 KVKs of Zone-I and five ATICs presented their progress for the Year - 2017-18 & 2018-19 during the 6 Technical Sessions.
The lectures on different aspects of horticulture, organic farming and “China’s strategy for transforming rural economy: lessons for India”, etc., were also delivered during the workshop.
