Dr. A.K. Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR, New Delhi inaugurated the administrative building of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Panchmahal today.
Dr. Singh highlighted about the strong network of 703 KVKs that are present across the country for frontline extension and faster technology application. He emphasized on involving more numbers of youths in the agricultural field and maintaining the quality of seeds and planting materials, development of IFS model on 2 acre area that includes bee keeping, fishery, arid-fruits and vegetables for securing sustainable livelihood security.
Dr. Lakhan Singh, Director, ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Pune emphasized on the development of capacity of youth in entrepreneurship, area based enterprises, resources sharing and marketing that can help to attract more rural youth towards the field agriculture. He also discussed about identification, experimentation and demonstration of latest technologies of ICAR Institutes and SAUs at farmer’s fields.
Dr. P.L. Saroj, Director, ICAR-Central Institute for Arid Horticulture, Bikaner urged the farmers for adopting the multiple cropping systems rather than mono-cropping. He also said that proper combination of crops/fruits is the need of the hour.
A Kisan Gosthi on Integrated Farming System for Doubling Farmers Income was organized on the occasion.
Scientists of ICAR Institutes, officers of Line Departments and 117 farmers attended the programme.
