The ICAR-National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources, Karnal, Haryana organized the 5th State-specific Interface Meet for “Mission towards Zero Non-Descript AnGR of India” for Rajasthan State today. The Meet was organized on the Theme - “Characterization and Documentation of Animal Genetic Resources of Rajasthan: A Mission towards Zero Non-Descript Populations”.
In his address, Dr. N.S. Rathore, Vice-Chancellor, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur, Rajasthan & Former Deputy Director General (Agricultural Education), ICAR outlined the potential livestock breeds in the state. He also urged for the registration of such populations to reduce the Non-Descript population in the state.
Dr. S.K. Garg, Vice-Chancellor, Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Bikaner, Rajasthan highlighted the important role of the various agencies for documenting the AnGR.
Dr. V.K. Saxena, ADG (AP&B), ICAR stressed on adopting the suitable strategy to identify the target areas and the population for documentation purposes. He also commended the cooperation and collaboration of the local, state and national agencies forming a larger group to complete the Mission.
Earlier, delivering the welcome address, Dr. B.P. Mishra, Director, ICAR-NBAGR, Karnal underlined the Bureau’s activities and provided the strategy for documenting the Non-Descript population in the country under the Zero Non-Descript AnGR Mission.
A total of 102 participants from ICAR & its Institutes; Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur; Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Bikaner, Rajasthan and Department of Animal Husbandry, Government of Rajasthan participated in the Meet.
