“Annual Zonal Workshop of KVKs of Zone - X, Hyderabad comprising of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry” organized

“The KVKs should follow the Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs) to prevent the spread of COVID-19 Pandemic during the implementation of their activities”, said Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR). Dr. Mohapatra was delivering the inaugural address of the “Annual Zonal Workshop of KVKs of Zone - X, Hyderabad comprising of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry” being organized by the ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Hyderabad from 6th to 8th July, 2021.
The Director General suggested the KVKs and ICAR-ATARIs for participating in all the activities planned under the “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav” and facilitate large-scale participation of the stakeholders. He also stressed on the need for focusing on the interventions related to gender and nutrition in view of the prevalence of widespread malnutrition in the country.
Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR opined the KVKs for collecting 110 Success Stories per KVK on doubling of farmers’ income by December - 2021. The DDG emphasized on the need of having the demonstration units on ITKs, IFS, soil and water conservation technologies in KVK Instructional Farms.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. J.V. Prasad, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Hyderabad apprised the participants about the achievements of the KVKs of the Zone.
The Workshop is aimed at reviewing the achievements of 71 functioning KVKs of the Zone for the Year 2020-21.
The ADGs (Agricultural Extension), ICAR; Vice-Chancellors & Registrars of State Agricultural Universities in the Zone; Directors of ICAR-ATARIs and other Senior Officials of KVKs also participated in the inaugural session of the Workshop.
